The complete Personal Trainer course will enable you to enter the Fitness Industry as a Personal Trainer. The Australian Institute of Personal Trainers specialises in delivering this qualification to ensure you are industry ready and provides students with a blend of relevant theory and real world practical experience creating genuine career opportunities upon graduation.

Units of Competency
Through the Complete Personal Trainer qualification students access a total of 25 Units of Competency which include 10 entry units, 10 core units and five elective units.
Entry Units:
- Provide fitness orientation and health screening
- Provide quality service in the fitness industry
- Develop and apply an awareness of specific populations to exercise delivery
- Instruct and monitor fitness programs
- Apply anatomy and physiology principles in a fitness context
- Provide healthy eating information to clients in accordance with recommended guidelines
- Undertake client health assessment
- Plan and deliver gym programs
- Follow occupational health and safety policies
- Undertake risk analysis of activities
- Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business
- Market the small business
- Undertake small business planning
- Work collaboratively with medical and allied health professionals
- Apply motivational psychology to provide guidance on exercise behaviour and change to meet health and fitness goals
- Undertake long term exercise programming
- Undertake appraisals of functional movement
- Apply exercise science principles to planning exercise
- Plan and deliver exercise programs to support desired body composition outcomes
- Plan and deliver personal training
Elective Units:
- Plan and deliver exercise to older clients with managed conditions
- Plan a home-based business
- Plan small business finances
- Monitor and manage small business operations
- Manage small business finances
Industry Relevant Fitness Theory and Course Progression
Each student studies industry approved Fitness theory which is current, comprehensive and will provide a solid foundation for success as a Personal Trainer. The course is structured around real life client progression, which gives students a more logical and relevant study path helping them grasp concepts faster.
Tailored Learning Resources
You will have access to up to date and accurate course materials. These have been specifically created to work logically with course content and relate directly to the assignments you will complete, eliminating irrelevant content. The resources have been developed with different learning styles in mind to cater to all learning styles.
Devising and Delivering Exercise Programs
Core to your role as a Personal Trainer is devising and delivery of a tailored exercise program for your client once you have completed a comprehensive health and lifestyle screen. You will learn best practice for completing a health and lifestyle assessment, how to formulate an exercise program that is suited to your client's fitness levels and goals, and how to best deliver that exercise program so your client achieves maximum results.
Anatomy and Physiology – You will learn key all about Human anatomy and physiology and how different exercises impact upon the human body.
Nutrition – You will learn the role of each individual nutrient in fuelling the body, and gain a strong understanding of the current nutrition recommendations to apply to your client’s nutrition intake and goals.
Special Populations – You will learn how to devise and deliver exercise programs for special populations which includes children, older adults, and clients with special needs obese clients, clients with disease or illness, and clients in recovery or rehabilitation.
Client Motivation and Psychology – You will learn how to establish a professional relationship with clients who have different personalities and different motivational triggers to how to motivate them to achieve develop their health and fitness goals and strategies for keeping them on track.
Business Success – You will learn how to operate or manage a set up your own fitness business and gain an understanding of how to administrate workplace information, staff performance, client feedback and human resources.
Career Transition Strategies – You will learn how to transition to the flexibility of Personal Training and understand the importance of ongoing professional development once you are a fully qualified Personal Trainer.
Safety and Industry Orientation – You will learn how to implement safety procedures, identify potential risks and select the correct fitness equipment for training.

Real World Practical Experience
During your studies to become a Personal Trainer, you will complete practical experience undertaken in a working fitness centre or studio where you learn side-by-side with your Campus Director or Mentor – a local Personal Trainer who is experienced, professional and dedicated to education.

All of your practical experience has been developed to provide you with the opportunity to apply your course theory to a real gym environment. From client generation and health screening, to program design and program implementation, you will learn first hand every component of Personal Training under the guidance of your Campus Director or Mentor. To ensure you receive comprehensive practical experience with your Campus Director or Mentor, each student will complete a total of 30 hours of practical experience. If you select the Fast Track Program, you will complete all of your practical experience hours during your eight weekly tutorials. If you select the Flexible Mentoring Program, you will complete all of your practical experience hours across two 15 hour placements with your Mentor in their Fintess Centre.
